Personal growth through art knows no age or physical limits. Creativity is an integral part of people everywhere and the DMG School Project believes there is an artist in everyone. We also believe that the classes that we offer can fire up the imagination and allow both novice and expert artists alike, the thrill of creating hot glass art.

There are plenty of exciting hot glass classes coming up here at the DMG School Project that we want you to know about!

Glass Immersion Weekend with Deanna Clayton

Background

Deanna Clayton creates glass sculpture in vessel form as well as figurative works. She specializes in the glass casting technique called pate de verre. She has taught classes in her techniques at places such as Corning Glass in  New York, The Cleveland Institute of Art, and our very own DMG Glass Project in St Petersburg, Florida.

Deanna Clayton was introduced to glass right out of high school while earning her Associates in Fine Arts degree. Deanna then continued her education in glass at Kent State University. After two years, she moved to Champaign-Urbana, IL to attend the University of Illinois and finished her Bachelors Degree. While still attending the University she started her glass studio. Glass Immersion Weekend with Paul Nelson

Background

Paul Nelson has been working as an independent artist in hot glass and other media for over 20 years. Much of Paul’s current work focuses on portraiture, narrative, and a sort of re-contextualization of the sculpted subject, via their cultural and historical contributions to society. The use of thick cast glass in Paul’s sculpture allows the element of light to enhance this purpose.

Paul received his B.A. In Studio Art and World Religion in 1992 from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky.  Paul finished his M.F.A. in Sculpture at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 1997 and then moved to Louisville, Kentucky to continue his professional career.
