DMG Youth Development Program partners with educators to present a curriculum combining art, history, geology, chemistry, math, critical and creative thinking. The nature of making glass demonstrates the symbiotic relationship of these fields and encourages students to apply this perspective to learning and life experiences. As a Vendor of Education for the Pinellas County Schools, DMG School Project provides each student with classroom instruction, a gallery tour, glassblowing demonstration and the ability to produce a glass art object of their own creation.
Teachers Resource & Curriculum
This 24 page integrated reference provides teachers and students with information that can be modified to fit each teacher’s subject matter. Students are engaged in the dynamic magic of fire and glass through the prism of human discovery, world economics, and humanities. A Student Questionnaire and Teacher Evaluation are also included. The program may be modified to accommodate students’ and organizational needs.
As part of the Youth Development program students schedule a 2.5 hour visit to the DMG complex and receive a docent tour, and discussion of the works of the over 105 international glass artists on display. They witness the step-by-step process of hot glass art, and sand-etch their own creations.
DMG provides all the materials for the etching process. Please email christopher@dmgschoolproject.org for more information.
