1 Day Pâte De Verre Workshop with Deanna Clayton
Discover the magic of pâte de verre in this hands-on workshop led by acclaimed glass artist Deanna Clayton. Pâte de verre—French for “glass paste”—is an ancient kiln-casting technique in which finely crushed, colored glass is carefully packed into a mold. Once fired in the kiln, the glass fuses into a textured form with an almost sugary surface. In this workshop, participants will create a one-of-a-kind glass bowl by layering and shaping glass fibers in a mold, resulting in a highly personal and expressive finished piece. This is a rare opportunity to learn a specialized technique and take home a completed glass artwork.
Deanna Clayton brings decades of experience to this unique class. She began working in glass after high school while earning her Associate Degree in Fine Arts in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and continued her studies at Kent State University under the renowned Henry Halem. Clayton later completed her Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Illinois, where she also established her first studio. After ten years working in Illinois, she relocated to Door County, Wisconsin, where she currently lives and works. Her work is held in public and private collections worldwide, and this workshop offers a special chance to learn directly from a master of the pâte de verre process.
